Simon Turns 2!

Back in October we met with the cutest couple ever to discuss their son's 2nd birthday party. They wanted to do something fun and slightly larger without being huge. Slightly before their son turned 1 they moved to Portland and away from many close friends and family members. So this was the year they wanted to do something bigger.  He would enjoy it and understand it a bit more.  Plus he was IN LOVE with trains of all kinds.

So Simon's adorable mom had started doing some pinteresting and found some ideas she liked to get started.  Antique was the direction the party would head and so with that in mind we were off and running.

The invites were designed by 2 Bird Studios and printed locally in Portland at Evermine.  Both were amazing to work with and printing them locally was quick, easy and they turned out amazing.

Upon arrival we used a paper punch to "punch" the ticket of each child as they "boarded" the train.

While planning out how the day would play out, our client wanted to come up with a way for the kids to burn off some steam before the party.  So a bunch of them went to Pump It Up in Tigard to play while we set up and decorated the house.

Please enjoy the pictures below that were taken by Taylor with Sunflower Photography.

Of course it would have to be Track 2 since the birthday boy was turning 2.

Favors for the kids included wood train whistles, bandana's, and custom stickers. Custom stickers were made thru Zazzle

The food for the event was pizza and lots of fun snacks for the kids.  The snacks were part of a train and each train car was something different. Such as an animal car for animal crackers, coal car for grapes, log car for stick pretzels.  We were able to find 2 adorable antique trains that worked well to pull the train cars and use as added decor.  In keeping with the theme we also sources conductor hats which we placed around the house and old lanterns.

Upstairs in the house was a large playroom.  Using masking tape we made a train track to the room and a train for the kids to play in & use as a photobooth.  We also printed off lots of coloring sheets for the kids to color.

We created fun itineraries for the guests as well as a custom gift sheet for Simon's mom.

For us it was all about some of the fun little details.  Adding straws to match the theme and colors, using galvanized bins to hold the food, straws and drinks.

And what is a party without cake. Simon LOVES Ice Cream Cakes so it was a custom Cold Stone Cake for the Party.

Thanks for reading our blog.  We look forward to hearing your thoughts!
